How to Maintain Brewing Equipment

Many craft beer enthusiasts buy equipment but aren’t quite sure how to maintain it. In fact, regular maintenance and care of brewing equipment directly affect the equipment’s lifespan, operational stability, and ultimately, the ability to consistently produce quality beer. Today, I’ll share a few key maintenance points.

  1. When cleaning equipment, avoid using detergents or disinfectants containing chloride ions (Cl-), as they can corrode stainless steel.
  2. After long-term operation or extended periods of inactivity, heat exchangers should be disassembled and cleaned. Do not use metal brushes during cleaning, and avoid bending, twisting, stepping on, or squeezing the heat exchanger plates. Replace aging gaskets promptly to avoid minor issues causing major problems.
  3. Before restarting equipment after prolonged inactivity, thoroughly clean the system, repeating the cleaning process several times if necessary. Before decommissioning, it is also recommended to thoroughly clean the equipment, drain the water, and close all valves to prepare for the next startup.
  4. Regularly check the wiring and grounding of motors and pumps to ensure proper connections. Check the oil levels in gear motors and hydraulic equipment, and add lubricating oil to mixing motors regularly according to the manual. Periodically inspect the fastening of mixing and raking blade connections. Pumps used in the system must not run dry or in reverse; if leaks are found, replace the pump seals promptly.
  5. Frequently inspect the mill hopper for foreign objects, check that all fasteners are secure, that the drive belt tension is appropriate, and that all safety guards are reliable. Clean the mill rollers regularly to maintain stable milling performance.
  6. Regularly check that pressure gauges and safety valves on steam heating equipment are functioning properly, and ensure steam traps are clear. Do not activate heating when the liquid level is below the required mark. During operation, warning signs should be posted on high-temperature pipelines such as steam and wort lines, as well as on top of brewing vessels, to prevent burns.
How to Maintain Brewing Equipment Process & Engineering

Even the best maintenance practices require operators who are familiar with the equipment and take their responsibilities seriously. A single improper operation can cost ten times more to repair. Therefore, training staff to correctly use and properly maintain equipment is key to reducing failures and ensuring smooth operation. Our team is dedicated and reliable, and from the moment equipment is delivered, we provide customers with clear, practical guidance on operating procedures and daily maintenance, helping them manage and care for their equipment properly from the start.

Whether after-sales service is reliable is another critical factor when purchasing equipment. A brewing system is designed to last for years, and over time, certain components or auxiliary equipment will inevitably experience wear. In such cases, whether the manufacturer can respond promptly and professionally diagnose and resolve issues directly affects whether your production will be interrupted—and ultimately impacts your time and market opportunities. Our company is located in the birthplace of China’s brewing equipment industry, surrounded by a mature industrial ecosystem, giving us a natural advantage in spare parts supply and technical support. We provide integrated service from design and manufacturing to sales and after-sales support, striving to help our customers resolve issues quickly and with minimal hassle.

These are the key points on maintaining brewing equipment. Cost-effectiveness is not just about the purchase price—it’s about whether the equipment runs reliably over the long term, how much effort it requires, and whether support is there when needed. This is the path we’ve been steadily walking, and I hope this information helps with your decision-making.
